Unveil Digital Strategies is proud to call Lancaster, PA our home. It has so much to offer… rolling farm land, great restaurants, antiques, Amish furniture and experiences, and amazing entertainment venues like Sight & Sound. That doesn’t include many of the manufacturing businesses throughout the area that are providing great jobs and opportunities for our citizens.
Lancaster survived the great economic collapse of 2008 in part because of it’s hometown atmosphere and conservative business leanings. Savvy business owners and executives were able to navigate the challenges of the economy while keeping their companies afloat in this area due to our stability, work ethic, and conservative business principles.
In addition, there are many great technology companies in the area doing great work in web design, search engine optimization, and social media marketing. Yet, most of these companies are serving clients outside of Lancaster County.
Sadly, I’m discovering that many local businesses are not employing the best use of online technologies. Many websites are substandard or way out of date and the area’s use of technology for business is behind those of major metropolitan areas.
Our local businesses are not all they could be online!
If there are so many great local web design, web development, and digital marketing agencies around, why are so many local businesses utilizing such bad technology and marketing principles?
While business principles have not changed, the marketing of business has dramatically changed over the last five years. Yet far too many Lancaster County businesses are still reaching their audiences the old way, using almost all local offline media.
- Is it too much work to learn something new?
- It is too frustrating?
- Is too much changing too fast?
- Perhaps it’s perceived to be too costly?
- Perhaps the investment is not perceived to be of real value?
Whatever the reasons, businesses are losing more than they are keeping by ignoring the changing realities around them.
While old media does have a lot to offer, there should be a healthy integration of both online and offline marketing activities. And, when you consider all of the out of area visitors using mobile phones and tablets we have businesses that could be attracting more and more customers and making even more money than they are today.
I have no intention whatsoever of mentioning any companies by name or showing their websites. But, if you’re messaging is off and you’re not attracting people to your business, if your website is not created for mobile browsers like smartphones and tablets in mind, and if you want to have more impact online than you’re currently getting; I want to encourage you to start here.
